5、pe Subcommittee of the SAEDecorative Tape and Molding Committee. The Mounting Tape Subcommittee was formed in 1984. The objectivesof this committee are to develop SAE Standards, Recommended Practices, and Information Reports relative toautomotive applications of decorative tapes and adhesive mountin

6、g tapes.1. ScopeThis SAE Recommended Practice applies to evaluation of the conformance match condition existingbetween two surfaces. Evaluation of this conformance may be especially useful in bonded applicationsalthough it may also have relevance to bolted adjacent surface joint conditions.Since goo

7、d bonding surface conformity is necessary for providing optimal bond performance with pressuresensitive adhesives, the purpose of this document is to provide a method of evaluating the conformance matchof the mating surfaces. This document is intended as a guide toward standard practice but may be su

8、bject to frequent change to keeppace with experience and technical advances. This should be kept in mind when considering the use of thisdocument.Tool types, materials, application tools, and component contact area evaluation methods are included as partof this document. In most cases a visual evalua

9、tion of contact performance may be satisfactory; however, for greater accuracy ameasurement tool may be used. When reporting a contact value the mode of evaluation (e.g., visual, measurement tool) should be indicated.1.1 PurposeThe purpose of this document is to establish a uniform practice for testi

Definitions3.1 Test SurfaceThe component surface applied to the CCS tool to evaluate match (moldings, nameplates, claddings, emblems, etc.).

11、3.2 Contact PatternSize, configuration, and location of contacted areas occurring within the test surface.4. Significance and UseThe adhesive contact demonstrated by the component applied to a clear surface is anexcellent indication of the degree of conformance existing between the component and its

12、 target surface.A components surface contacts a clear surface representation of the components mating surface duringapplication. This provides an index of the surface conformance match existing between the component and itstarget application area. In addition, these clear representative surfaces are

13、 useful for validating application toolcomponent placement processes.5. Apparatus5.1 Clear Coordinated Surface (CCS)A transparent polymer accurately representing a specific surface, providing an edge or outline scribe, (or equivalent) location index, and displaying test surface contacted anduncontact

14、ed areas.NOTETools may be constructed from Blehm BP-4228 or equivalent. Surfaces to be matched (e.g.,prototype, pilot, production, etc.) should be agreed upon by the participating parties.5.2 Measurement ToolSuch as a Compensating Polar Planimeter, or equivalent, is used for measurement ofcontacted

15、and uncontacted areas.6. ConditioningAt the time of application, test surface, CCS tool surface, as well as surrounding ambienttemperatures shall be 23 C 2 C (72 F 4 F).7. Procedure7.1 Tool Surface PreparationImmediately prior to application clean CCS tool surface with a clean lintfree clothmoistene

Surface treatments must not adversely affect toolclarity or component contact.Contamination of component or tool mating surfa

Roller rates and paths taken on the component surface must remain as consistent as possiblebetween application in order to minimize contact pattern effects. 22、E TAPE AND MOLDING COMMITTEETotal Contacted AreaTotal Available Mating Surface Area- 100% % Contact=SAE J2215 Issued DEC91RationaleManufacturers have experienced difficulty in quantifying the free state match or contact occurringbetween mating components. There have been no consistently accurate tes

23、ting methods available forevaluating this component contact. While there has been wide acceptance of the use of applied filmsand dyes, no real defined or consistent testing methods were available for addressing this surfacecontact. Consequently, surface match checks and quality checks based upon the

This could provide a fitted surface from every manufactured component permittingsurface contact to be more effectively controlled.Relationship of SAE Standard
