SCOPE: This SAE Aerospace Recommended Practice (ARP) defines the wear limits allowed on certain features of Pressure Fuel Servicing Adapters which are crucial for safe interfacing of Pressure Fuel Servicing No

    2、zzles and Pressure Caps. Wear limits as described herein represent the maximum amount of wear on certain features of the Adapter beyond which use of the Adapter for these purposes may contribute to an unsafe condition. Such wear is the result of the normal use of the Adapter for aircraft refueling a

    3、nd also, in some cases, for Nozzle stowage on refueling vehicles. 1.1 Purpose: This document compiles inspection criteria to be applied to all Pressure Fuel Servicing Adapters in service. When aircraft Adapter wear goes unchecked, Pressure Caps may not seal properly. Of more concern, a Pressure Fuel

    4、 Servicing Nozzle may be removed from a worn Adapter with the interlock features of the Nozzle defeated. The result of this condition can be the opening of the Nozzle when not attached to an Adapter and a potentially dangerous fuel spill. 1.2 Field of Application: The criteria contained herein appli

    5、es to Pressure Fuel Servicing Adapters that are: a. Affixed to aircraft for refueling and de-fueling purposes, b. Affixed to fixed fuel transfer stands utilized for fuel delivery and/or recirculation, c. Affixed to refueling vehicles utilized as bottom loading points or, d. Affixed to refueling vehi

    6、cles utilized as secure Nozzle stowage fixtures. Reaffirmed 2011-11SAE Technical Standards Board Rules provide that: “This report is published by SAE to advance the state of technical and engineering sciences. INTERFACE FEATURES SUBJECT TO WEAR: Refueling Nozzles and Pressure Caps lock onto aircraft Adapters and seal by contacting upon or against certain surfaces and features of the Adapter, not limited or restricted to the inner sealing face, the thre

    14、e lugs protruding from the outside diameter of the most outboard end of the Adapter, and the three square slots in the outboard face. The lugs are equally spaced and are clocked opposite of the three slots which are also equally spaced. Refer to MS24484 for specifics of design. Wear of these feature

    15、s is a function of time and the number of connection cycles to which the Adapter is subjected. Specifically, (1) the width of the inner walls of each slot, (2) the width of the exterior surfaces of each lug, (3) thickness of the exterior surfaces of each lug, and (4) the distance from the inboard (u

    16、nderside) lug surfaces to the inner sealing surface are features subject to wear that will affect the safety of Nozzle and Pressure Cap performance. SAE ARP5298 - 3 - 4. ALLOWABLE WEAR AMOUNTS: To Whom It May Concern: generate the actual wear data for this document, Nozzle and Pressure Cap manufactu

    17、rers were asked to contribute dimensions for each of the four critical features of the Adapter as they would pertain to the safe performance of their product(s). The resulting data for each four features was tabulated. The minimum wear values for each feature were selected from this tabulated data t

    18、o be used as the safety thresholds for this document. Each Wear Limit is identified in Figure 1. These Wear Limits are, therefore, the thresholds of safety, beyond which a hazard can exist when interfacing with a Nozzle or Pressure Cap. All dimensions in Figure 1 are in inches (with metric values as

    19、 reference). If any single measured dimension for any single feature is found to be beyond the Wear Limits in Figure 1, then the Adapter is worn beyond the threshold of safety for use with Nozzles or Pressure Caps and must be replaced. 5. INSPECTION: 5.1 When measuring slot width, measure the MAXIMU

    20、M width of the distorted surfaces of the opposing slot walls at a point 0.100 inch inward from the outboard face of the adapter. 5.2 When measuring lug width, measure the MAXIMUM width of the distorted surfaces of the lug at a point 0.100 inch inward from the extreme outer radial edge of the lug. 5.

    21、3 When measuring lug thickness, measure the MAXIMUM thickness between the outboard face of the Adapter and the inboard surface (underside) of the lug at a point 0.100 inch inward from the extreme outer radial edge of the lug. 5.4 When measuring the depth of sealing surface, measure the MAXIMUM value

    22、 from the plane of the actual sealing surface to the inboard surface (underside) of each of the three lugs.5.5 If any single measured dimension for any single feature is found to be beyond the Wear Limits in Figure 1, then the Adapter is worn beyond the threshold of safety for use with Nozzles or Pr

    23、essure Caps and must be replaced. 6.
