SCOPE1.1 FormThis specification covers a premium aircraft-quality, low-alloy steel in the form of bars, forgings, mechanical tubing, and forging stock.1.2 ApplicationThese products have been used typically for parts requiring high tensile strength and g

    7、ood ductility with relatively high impact strength, superior transverse properties, and hardness, but usage is not limited to these applications. Certain design and processing procedures may cause these products to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking after heat treatment; ARP1110 recomme

    8、nds practices to minimize such conditions.2.     19、ness (See 8.2).3.3.1.2 Bars Over 0.500 Inch (12.70 mm) in Nominal Diameter or Least Distance Between Parallel SidesHot finished, and annealed if necessary, unless otherwise ordered, having hardness not higher than 241 HB, or equivalent (See 8.3). Bars ordered cold finished may have hardness as high

    20、as 248 HB, or equivalent (See 8.3). 3.3.1.3 Bar shall not be cut from plate (Also see 4.4.2).3.3.2 ForgingsNormalized and tempered having hardness not higher than 269 HB, or equivalent (See 8.3). 3.3.3 Mechanical TubingCold finished, unless otherwise ordered, having hardness not higher than 25 HRC,

Tubing ordered hot finished and annealed shall have hardness not higher than 99 HRB, or equivalent (See 8.3).3.3.4 Forging StockAs ordered by the forging manufacturer.3.4 PropertiesThe product shall conform to the following requirements; hardness and tensile testing shall be

    22、 performed in accordance with ASTM A 370:SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS6340B Page 4 of 93.4.1 MacrostructureVisual examination of transverse full cross-sections from bars, billets, tube rounds, or forging stock, etched in accordance with ASTM A 604 in hot hydrochloric acid, shall show no pipe or cracks. Poro

    28、ground, turned, or polished shall be free from decarburization on the ground, turned, or polished surfaces. Decarburization on tubing ID shall not exceed the maximum depth specified in 3.4.5.4.3.4.5.2 Allowable decarburization of bars, billets, and tube rounds or tubing ordered for redrawing or forg

The microhardness method shall be conducted on a hardened

    37、 but untempered specimen protected during heat treatment to prevent changes in surface carbon content. Depth of decarburization, when measured by a microhardness method, is defined as the perpendicular distance from the surface to the depth under that surface where there is no further increase in ha

    38、rdness. Such measurements shall be far enough away from any adjacent surface to be uninfluenced by decarburization on the adjacent surface. In case of dispute, the depth of decarburization determined using the microhardness traverse method shall govern.3.4.5.5.1 When determining the depth of decarbu

    39、rization, it is permissible to disregard local areas provided the decarburization of such areas does not exceed the above limits by more than 0.005 inch (0.13 mm) and the width is 0.065 inch (1.65 mm) or less.3.4.6 Response to Heat Treatment for Bars, Forgings and TubingSpecimens shall meet the foll

    40、owing requirements after being normalized by heating to 1700 F 10 (927 C 6), holding at heat for not less than 1 hour, and cooling in air; hardened by heating to 1550 F 10 (843 C 6), holding at heat for 1 hour 0.2, and quenching in oil, and heated to the required tempering temperature, held at heat
