SCOPE1.1 FormThis specification covers a high-strength, corrosion-resistant alloy in the form of bars.1.2 ApplicationThese bars have been used typically for applications requiring a combination of high strength, g

    7、ood tension-tension fatigue strength, toughness, ductility, and exceptionally good corrosion resistance after work strengthening and aging (See 8.2), but usage is not limited to such applications.2.     15、um remelting.3.3 ConditionSolution heat treated and centerless ground.SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS5758J Page 3 of 63.3.1 Bars shall not be cut from plate (Also see 4.4.5).3.4 Solution Heat TreatmentBars shall be solution heat treated by heating to a temperature within the range 1900 to 1925 F (1038 to 1052

    16、 C), holding at the selected temperature within 25 F (14 C) for 4 to 8 hours, and cooling in air to room temperature. Pyrometry shall be in accordance with AMS2750.3.5 PropertiesBars shall conform to the following requirements:3.5.1 As Solution Heat Treated3.5.1.1 Tensile PropertiesShall be as shown

    19、om another sample with similar nonconforming hardness.3.5.1.3 Average Grain SizeShall be ASTM No. 4 or finer, determined in accordance with ASTM E 112.3.5.2 After Cold Working and AgingBars shall have the following properties after being suitably cold worked (See 8.4) and aged by heating to a temper

    20、ature within the range 1000 to 1200 F (538 to 649 C), holding at the selected temperature within 25 F (14 C) for 4 to 4-1/2 hours, and cooling in air to room temperature.3.5.3 Tensile PropertiesShall be as shown in Table 3, determined in accordance with ASTM E 8/E 8M.TABLE 3 - MINIMUM TENSILE PROPER

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS4.1 Responsibility for InspectionThe vendor of bars shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be re

    23、sponsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the bars conform to specified requirements.4.2 Classification of Tests4.2.1 Acceptance TestsThe following requirements are acceptance te

    24、sts and shall be performed on each heat or lot as applicable:4.2.1.1 Composition (3.1) of each heat.4.2.1.2 Tensile properties (3.5.1.1), hardness (3.5.1.2), and average grain size (3.5.1.3) of each lot as solution heat treated.4.2.1.3 Tolerances (3.7).4.2.2 Periodic TestsTensile properties (3.5.2.1

    25、) after cold working and aging is a periodic test and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser.4.3 Sampling and TestingShall be in accordance with AMS2371 and the following.4.3.1 Specimens for tensile testing shall be of standard

    26、proportions, in accordance with ASTM E 8/E 8M, with either 0.250-inch (6.35-mm) diameter at the reduced parallel gage section or smaller specimens proportional to the standard when required. Specimens shall be machined from the center of bars 0.800 inch (20.32 mm) and under in nominal diameter and f

    27、rom mid-radius of larger size bars.4.4 ReportsThe vendor of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the vendors name and country where the metal was melted (e.g., final melt in the case of metal processed by multiple melting operations) and the following results of tests and re

PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY5.1 SizesExcept when exact lengths or multiples of exact leng

    30、ths are ordered, straight bars will be acceptable in lengths of 6 to 20 feet (1.8 to 6.1 m) but not more than 10% in any shipment shall be supplied in lengths shorter than 10 feet (3 m).5.2 IdentificationShall be in accordance with AMS2806.5.3 PackagingBars shall be prepared for shipment in accordan

    31、ce with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the bars to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.6. ACKNOWLEDGMENTA vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all qu

    32、otations and when acknowledging purchase orders.7. REJECTIONSBars not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection.8. NOTES8.1 A change bar (|) located in the left margin is for the convenience of the user in locating areas where technic

    34、ontain editorial changes only.8.2 This alloy depends on combinations of cold working and aging to attain a variety of combinations of strength and ductility. Mill capabilities are limited to cold drawing bars 1-3/4 inches (44.4 mm) and under in nominal diameter to attain the full properties specifie

    35、d in 3.5.2.1. 8.3 Hardness conversion tables for metals are presented in ASTM E 140. Use of the nickel and nickel alloy table is recommended.8.4 The referee procedure to confirm ability of the bars to meet the requirements of 3.5.2 shall use a straight draw bench at room temperature in which a round
