    6、cation. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers a silver alloy in the form of wire, rod, sheet, strip, foil, pig, powder, shot, and chips and a viscous mixture (paste) of powder in a suitable binder. 1.2 Application This material has been used typically for joining ferrous metals, including aust

    7、enitic steels and alloys, requiring moderate joint strength up to 700 F (371 C) for short-time service or up to 400 F (204 C) for long-time service, and for joining nonferrous metals except those having a base of aluminum, magnesium, or titanium, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.2.1

    8、The nickel content helps minimize crevice corrosion in corrosion resistant steels. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revisio

    9、n of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. When the referenced document has been cancelled and no superseding document has been specified, the last published issue of that document shall apply. TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Products shall meet the requirements of AWS A5.8 BAg-21 and the following: 3.2 Condition As fabricated unless otherwise specified. 3.2.1 Paste Pa

    13、ste not containing flux (3.2.1.1) shall be supplied unless paste containing flux (3.2.1.1) is specified. 3.2.1.1 Paste Without Flux Shall consist of 84 to 90% by weight powder in a suitable binder unless otherwise specified by purchaser. 3.2.1.2 Paste Containing Flux Shall consist of 55 to 80% by we

    14、ight powder in a suitable binder and flux combination unless otherwise specified by purchaser. 3.3 Properties 3.3.1 Paste shall have a shelf life of not less than six months from date of manufacture; not more than thorough mixing shall be required to restore paste for use during that time. 3.3.2 Pas

    15、te without flux shall leave no adherent residue when heated in a protective atmosphere to 1000 F (538 C) or higher. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4774G Page 3 of 6 3.4 Quality The product, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in color, quality, and condition and free from foreign materials and from imp

    16、erfections detrimental to usage of the filler metal. Wire, rod, sheet, strip, and foil shall be clean, sound, bright, and free from slivers, splitting, ragged edges, damaged ends, and other injurious imperfections. Pig, powder, shot, and chips shall have a metallic luster. 3.5 Sizes and Tolerances T

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors

    24、 tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to the specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests All technic

    25、al requirements, except shelf life of paste (3.3.1), are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Shelf life of paste (3.3.1) is a periodic test and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the vendor unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser.     26、TERNATIONAL AMS4774G Page 5 of 6 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with the following: 4.3.1 Composition For all product except powder, one sample from each lot; for powder, one sample from each furnace charge. 4.3.2 Other Technical Requirements As agreed upon by purchaser and vendor.

    27、4.3.3 A lot shall be all product, other than powder and paste, produced from a single furnace charge (or melt) which has been tested and found to conform to the composition of AWS A5.8. 4.3.4 A lot of powder shall be a uniform blend of powder produced from one or more furnace charges, each meeting t

    28、he requirements of this specification, and presented for vendors inspection at one time. 4.3.5 A lot of paste shall be that paste produced from a single lot of powder combined with binder from the same manufacturing batch and presented for vendors inspection at one time. 4.4 Reports The vendor of th

    29、e product shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the composition requirements and stating that the product conforms to all other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number or numbers, AMS4774G, f

    30、orm, size, and quantity. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Not applicable. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification 5.1.1 The product shall be identified as agreed upon by purchaser and vendor. 5.1.2 Each exterior container or package shall be permanently and legibly marked with not less than the f

    31、ollowing information: SILVER ALLOY BRAZING FILLER METAL AMS4774G LOT NUMBER _ MANUFACTURERS IDENTIFICATION _ NOMINAL DIMENSIONS _ WEIGHT _ 5.1.2.1 Each container and package of paste shall also be marked with the date of manufacture. 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 The product shall be suitably wrapped, sealed,

    32、 and boxed or otherwise packaged for protection against injury and contamination during shipment and under normal dry storage conditions. 5.2.2 Packages of filler metal shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations perta

    33、ining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the filler metal to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4774G Page 6 of 6 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase

    34、 orders. 7. REJECTIONS Filler metal not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8.
