    5、ding AMS4462 Aluminum Alloy, Sheet and Plate, Alclad 4.4Cu - 1.5Mg - 0.60Mn (Alclad 2024, -T3 Sheet, -T351 Plate) Solution Heat Treated, Cold Worked and Naturally Aged (Composition similar to UNS A82024) RATIONALE AMS4462 revises Condition (3.2), Properties (3.3), Tables 2, 3, and 4, Ultrasonic Insp

    6、ection (3.7), Classification of Tests (4.2), Reports (4.4), and Identification (5.1.1), and is a Five-Year Review and update of this specification. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of alclad sheet and plate 0.008 to 1.000 inches (0.203 to 25.4 mm) supplied in

    7、 the -T3/-T351 temper. 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for medium strength parts requiring formability and maximum corrosion resistance and whose fabrication does not involve welding, but usage is not limited to such applications. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS The issue of the foll

    8、owing documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. When the referenced document has been cancelled and no supersedin

    16、o the T3 temper in accordance with AMS2772 (see H35.1/H35.1M). 3.2.2 Plate Solution heat treated, stretched to produce a nominal permanent set of 2% but not less than 1-1/2% nor more than 3%, and naturally aged to the T351 temper in accordance with AMS2772 (see ANSI H35.1/H35.1M). 3.2.2.1 Plate shal

    17、l receive no further straightening operations after stretching. 3.3 Properties The product shall conform to the following requirements, determined in accordance with AMS2355 on the mill produced size. 3.3.1 Tensile Properties Shall be as shown in Table 3 (see 8.3).     21、ides of the aluminum alloy (2024) ingot or slab, to form a composite that is to be rolled, shall each have a thickness as specified in Table 4.     23、l be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the product. 3.7 Ultrasonic Inspection 3.7.1 When specified, each plate 0.500 to 1.000 inches (12.70 to 25.40 mm) shall be ultrasonically inspected in accordance with ASTM B59

    24、4 and shall meet the requirements of 3.7.1.1. 3.7.1.1 Plates shall meet the requirement for ultrasonic class B for plate 0.500 to 1.000 inches (12.70 to 25.40 mm) in nominal thickness. 3.8 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2/H35.2M. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4

    25、.1 Responsibility for Inspection The producer of the product shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product con

    26、forms to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), tensile properties (3.3.1), and tolerances (3.8) and, when specified, ultrasonic soundness (3.7.1) are acceptance tests and except for composition, shall be performed on each lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Te

    27、sts Cladding thickness (3.4.1) is a periodic test and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless frequency of testing is specified by purchaser. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4462A Page 5 of 6 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 4.4 Reports The producer of the

    28、 product shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the product conforms to the composition and tolerances, and showing numerical results of tests for the other acceptance test requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number, AMS4462A, size, and quantity. Th

    29、e report shall also identify the producer, the product form, and the size of the mill product. 4.4.1 When material produced to this specification is beyond the sizes allowed in the scope or tables, or other exceptions are taken to the technical requirements listed in Section 3 (see 5.1.1), the repor

    30、t shall contain a statement “This material is certified as AMS4462A(EXC) because of the following exceptions”, and the specific exceptions shall be listed. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with AST

    31、M B666/B666M. 5.1.1 When technical exceptions are taken (see 4.4.2), the material shall be marked with AMS4462(EXC). 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 Product shall be protected from damage during storage and shipment by a method determined by the producer unless specified by purchaser. Examples of typical protec

    32、tive methods include but are not limited to interleaving with paper or oiling of the surface. 5.2.2 The product shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product

    33、 to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A producer shall mention this specification number in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Product not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to

    34、rejection. 8. NOTES 8.1 Terms used in AMS are clarified in ARP1917. 8.2 Dimensions and properties in inch/pound units and Fahrenheit temperatures are primary; dimensions and properties in SI units and Celsius temperatures are shown as the approximate equivalents of the primary units and are presente

    35、d only for information. 8.3 The tensile properties in Tables 3 and 5 were taken directly from QQ-A-250/5F Amendment 2 (AMS-QQ-A-250/5A) and have not been independently verified by AMS statistical procedures.     36、shall work to the revision of this specification (AMS4462) in effect on the date of order placement. Unless otherwise specified, castings manufactured and certified to the immediately previous revision of this specification (AMS4462) may be procured and used until inventory is depleted. 8.5 Purchase

    37、 documents should specify not less than the following: AMS4462A Product form and size of product desired Quantity of product desired Ultrasonic Inspection (if required) (see 3.7.1) 8.6 Property and acceptance requirements from the cognizant engineering organization applicable to sizes outside the range listed in 1.1.
