SCOPE 1.1 Form This specification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of extru
6、ded rods, bars, and profiles (shapes) produced with maximum cross sectional area of 55.5 in2 (35 806 mm2) and a maximum circumscribing circle diameter (circle size) of 24.4 inches (620 mm) (see 8.4.1). 1.2 Application These extrusions have been used typically for structural aerospace applications re
7、quiring good strength and toughness combined with excellent corrosion resistance but are not limited to these applications. 1.2.1 Certain processing procedures may cause this product to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking. ARP823 recommends practices to minimize such conditions. 2. APPLI

16、367 Page 3 of 7 3.2 Condition Extrusions shall be solution heat-treated, stress relieved by stretching after solution treatment to produce a nominal permanent set of 1.5%, but not less than 1% or more than 3%, and overaged to the -T74511 temper (see ANSI H35.1/H35.1M). 3.2.1 Extrusions in the -T7451
17、1 temper may receive minor straightening, after stretching, of an amount necessary to meet tolerance requirements of 3.6. 3.2.2 Extrusions shall be supplied with an as-extruded surface finish. Light polishing to remove minor surface imperfections is permissible provided such imperfections can be rem
18、oved within specified dimensional tolerances. 3.3 Heat Treatment Shall be performed in accordance with the requirements of AMS2772, except as follows: 3.3.1 Solution Heat Treatment Heat to 870 to 890 F (466 to 477 C), hold at heat for a time commensurate with product thickness and rapidly cool in a
19、suitable quenching medium. 3.3.2 Overaging Heat Treatment Overaging shall be performed at the specific time and temperatures necessary to meet the requirements of 3.4 (see 8.2). 3.4 Properties Product shall conform to the following requirements, determined on the mill produced size in accordance wit
20、h AMS2355. 3.4.1 Mechanical property requirements for products outside the range covered by 1.1 and Table 2 shall be agreed upon by the purchaser and producer. 3.4.2 Longitudinal and, when specified, long transverse tensile properties shall be as specified in Table 2. 27、2 Stress-Corrosion Cracking Specimens cut from extrusions 0.750 inches (19.04 mm) and over in diameter or thickness shall show no evidence of stress corrosion cracking when stressed in the short-transverse direction (perpendicular to grain flow) to 35.0 ksi (240 MPa) for a minimum 20 day exposure, a
28、s determined in accordance with ASTM G47. 3.4.4 Electrical Conductivity (EC) Shall be determined in accordance with ASTM E1004, on the surface of the test coupon prior to turning, but shall not be cause for rejection of the extrusions (see 8.3). 3.5 Quality Products, as received by purchaser, shall
29、be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from conditions detrimental to usage of the extrusions. 3.5.1 When specified, each extrusion shall be subjected to ultrasonic inspection in accordance with ASTM B594. Extrusions with section thicknesses 0.500 to 1.499 in
30、ches shall meet ultrasonic Class B requirements, as described in ASTM B594. Extrusions with section thickness 1.500 and over shall meet ultrasonic Class A requirements, as described in ASTM B594. 3.6 Tolerances Shall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2 or ANSI H35.2M. 4. QUALITY ASS

Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the pr
32、oducts conform to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests 4.2.1 Acceptance Tests Composition (3.1), longitudinal and long transverse (when specified) tensile properties (3.4.2), ultrasonic inspection (when specified) (3.5.1), and tolerances (3.6) are acceptance tests and, except for comp
33、osition, shall be performed on each inspection lot. 4.2.2 Periodic Tests Exfoliation corrosion resistance (3.4.3.1) and stress-corrosion cracking resistance (3.4.3.2) are periodic tests and shall be performed at a frequency selected by the producer unless frequency of testing is specified by the pur
34、chaser. 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4367 Page 6 of 7 4.4 Reports The producer of the product shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the product conforms to the composition, ultrasonic inspection when specified, and tolerances and
35、 showing the numerical results of tests on each inspection lot for electrical conductivity, and to determine conformance to the other acceptance test requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS4367, size or section identification number, and quantity

This report shall also identify the producer, the product form, and the size of the mill product. 4.4.1 When the product size is outside the range covered by 1.1 and Table 2, the report shall contain a statement to that affect. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 5. P
37、REPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B666/B666M. 5.2 Packaging Products shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with ASTM B660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the product
38、to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGEMENT A producer shall mention this specification number in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Products not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to
39、 rejection. 8. 41、ength 2xxx alloys. Limits on the thickness of the recrystallized surface layer can be guaranteed for specific profiles if requested by purchaser. 8.3 Electrical conductivity should be not lower than 37.5% IACS (International Annealed Copper Standard) (21.8 MS/m). 8.4 Terms used in AMS are clarified
