    5、ding AMS4350M Magnesium Alloy, Extrusions 6.5A1 - 0.95Zn (AZ61A-F) As Extruded UNS M11610 RATIONALE AMS4350N revises Properties (3.3.1.1, Table 2B), Reports (4.4.1), Identification (5.1.1), and Packaging (5.2.1), and is a Five-Year Review and update of this specification. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Form This spec

    6、ification covers a magnesium alloy in the form of extruded bars, rods, wire, tubing, and profiles. 1.1.1 This specification covers products up to 4.999 inches (63.47 mm) in diameter or least thickness (but not over 25 square inches (161 sq cm) and tubing up to 6.000 inches (152.4 mm) diameter with w

    7、all thicknesses between 0.28 to 0.75 inches (7.11 to 19.05 mm) (see 8.5). 1.2 Application These products have been used typically for low-strength parts requiring rigidity and low density, but usage is not limited to such applications. Special care is necessary to prevent corrosion. 2. APPLICABLE DO

    8、CUMENTS The issue of the following documents in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. When the referenced document has bee

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS 3.1 Composition Shall conform to the percentages by weight shown in Table

    14、n not required for routine acceptance. 3.2 Conditions As extruded. 3.2.1 Extrusions shall be supplied with an as-extruded surface finish; light polishing to remove minor surface imperfections is permissible provided such imperfections can be removed within specified dimensional tolerances. 3.3 Prope

    15、rties Extrusions shall conform to the following, determined in accordance with AMS2355. 3.3.1 Tensile Properties Shall be as specified in Table 2. 3.3.1.1 Mechanical property requirements for product outside of the range covered by Table 2 shall be agreed upon between purchaser and producer.     20、hall conform to all applicable requirements of ANSI H35.2 or ANSI H35.2M. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection The producer of extrusions shall supply all samples for producers tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves t

    21、he right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the extrusions conform to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests All technical requirements are acceptance tests and shall be performed on each inspection lot.     22、 5 4.3 Sampling and Testing Shall be in accordance with AMS2355. 4.4 Reports The producer of extrusions shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the numerical results of tests on each inspection lot for chemical composition and tensile properties and stating that the extrusions conform to t

    23、he other technical requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS4350N, size or section identification number, and quantity. 4.4.1 When material produced to this specification is beyond the sizes allowed in the scope of tables, or other exceptions are t

    24、aken to the technical requirements listed in Section 3 (see 5.1.1), the report shall contain a statement “This material is certified as AMS4350N(EXC) because of the following exceptions.” and the specific exceptions shall be listed. 4.4.2 Resampling and Retesting Shall be in accordance with AMS2355.

PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY 5.1 Identification Shall be in accordance with ASTM B666/B666M 5.1.1 When technical exceptions are taken (see 4.4.1), the material shall be marked with AMS4350N(EXC). 5.2 Packaging 5.2.1 Unless otherwise specified, extrusions shall be coated with a light corrosion-inhibi

    26、ting oil. 5.2.2 Extrusions shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the extrusions to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery. 6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT A pro

    27、ducer shall mention this specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS Extrusions not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8. NOTES 8.1 Revision Indicator A

    28、change bar (|) located in the left margin is for the convenience of the user in locating areas where technical revisions, not editorial changes, have been made to the previous issue of this document. An (R) symbol to the left of the document title indicates a complete revision of the document, inclu

SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4350N Page 5 of 5 8.2 Hardness should be not lower than 50HB/10/500 or 57HB/10/1000, determined in accordance with ASTM E10. Hardness has bee

    30、n used to verify that extrusions have been properly processed, but an out-of-range hardness number is not always indicative of extrusions with out-of-specification tensile properties. Further analysis, including material composition verification and/or tensile property measurement on extrusions with

    31、 out-of-range hardness is subject to agreement between purchaser and producer. 8.3 Terms used in AMS are clarified in ARP1917. 8.4 Dimensions and properties in inch/pound units are primary; dimensions and properties in SI units are shown as the approximate equivalents of the primary units and are pr

    32、esented only for information. 8.5 Procurement documents should specify not less than the following: AMS4350N Form and size or section identification number of extrusions desired Quantity of extrusions desired 8.6 Similar Specifications Federal QQ-M-31 and Federal WW-T-825 are listed for information only and shall not be construed as acceptable alternates unless all requirements of this AMS are met.
