    5、003-10 Reaffirmed 2013-12 Superseding AMS4164G Aluminum Alloy, Extrusions 4.4Cu - 1.5Mg - 0.60Mn (2024-T3510) Stress-Relief Stretched, Unstraightened (Composition similar to UNS A92024) RATIONALE AMS4164H has been reaffirmed to comply with the SAE five-year review policy. 1. SCOPE: 1.1 Form: This sp

    6、ecification covers an aluminum alloy in the form of extruded bars, rods, wire, profiles, and tubing. 1.2 Application: These products have been used typically for parts subject to excessive warpage during machining, and for parts requiring high strength and whose fabrication does not normally involve

    7、 welding, but usage is not limited to such applications. 1.2.1 Certain design and processing procedures may cause these extrusions to become susceptible to stress-corrosion cracking; ARP823 recommends practices to minimize such conditions. 2. APPLICABLE DOCUMENTS: The issue of the following document

    8、s in effect on the date of the purchase order forms a part of this specification to the extent specified herein. The supplier may work to a subsequent revision of a document unless a specific document issue is specified. When the referenced document has been cancelled and no superseding document has

    13、3.1 Composition: Shall conform to the percentages by weight shown in Table 1, determined in accordance with AMS 2355.     15、 AS1990). 3.2.1 Extrusions shall receive no straightening after stretching. 3.2.2 Extrusions shall be supplied with an as-extruded surface finish; light polishing to remove minor surface imperfections is permissible provided such imperfections can be removed within specified dimensional tolerances.

    23、ity: Extrusions, as received by purchaser, shall be uniform in quality and condition, sound, and free from foreign materials and from imperfections detrimental to usage of the extrusions. 3.4.1 When specified, extrusions shall be subjected to ultrasonic inspection in accordance with ASTM B 594. Bars

    24、 and profiles 0.500 inch (12.70 mm) and over in thickness, not exceeding 600 pounds (272 kg) in weight per piece, and not exceeding a width-to-thickness ratio of 10 to 1 shall meet discontinuity Class B. SAE INTERNATIONAL AMS4164H Page 5 of 6 3.5 Tolerances: Shall conform to all applicable requireme

    25、nts of ANSI H35.2 or ANSI H35.2M. 4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS: 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection: The vendor of extrusions shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for the performance of all required tests. Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any conf

    26、irmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the extrusions conform to specified requirements. 4.2 Classification of Tests: Composition (3.1), tensile properties (3.3.1), ultrasonic inspection when specified (3.4.1), and tolerances (3.5) are acceptance tests and, except for composition, shall be

    27、 performed on each inspection lot. 4.3 Sampling and Testing: Shall be in accordance with AMS 2355. 4.4 Reports: The vendor of extrusions shall furnish with each shipment a report stating that the extrusions conform to the chemical composition, ultrasonic inspection when required, and tolerances, and

    28、 showing the numerical results of tests on each inspection lot to determine conformance to the other acceptance test requirements. This report shall include the purchase order number, inspection lot number, AMS 4164H, size or section identification number, and quantity. The report shall also identif

    29、y the producer, product form, product lot number, and the size of the mill product. 4.5 Resampling and Retesting: Shall be in accordance with AMS 2355. 5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: 5.1 Identification: Shall be in accordance with ASTM B 666/B 666M. 5.2 Packaging: Extrusions shall be prepared for ship

    30、ment in accordance with ASTM B 660 and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the extrusions to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.     31、 specification number and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders. 7. REJECTIONS: Extrusions not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection. 8. NOTES: 8.1 A change bar (|) located in the left margin

    32、 is for the convenience of the user in locating areas where technical revisions, not editorial changes, have been made to the previous issue of a specification. An (R) symbol to the left of the document title indicates a complete revision of the specification, including technical revision. Change ba

    33、rs and (R) are not used in original publications, nor in specifications that contain editorial changes only. 8.2 Hardness should be not lower than 100 HB/10/500 or 106 HB/10/1000, determined in accordance with ASTM E 10. Hardness has been used to verify that extrusions are properly processed, but an

    34、 out-of-range hardness number is not always indicative of extrusions with out-of-specification tensile properties. Further analysis, including material composition verification, heat treat process parameter review, and/or tensile property measurement on extrusions with out-of-range hardness, may be

    35、necessary. 8.3 Terms used in AMS are clarified in ARP1917. 8.4 Dimensions and properties in inch/pound units are primary; dimensions and properties in SI units are shown as the approximate equivalents of the primary units and are presented only for information. 8.5 Purchase documents should specify

    36、not less than the following: AMS 4164H Form and size or section identification number of extrusions desired Quantity of extrusions desired Ultrasonic inspection report when specified (See 3.4.1). 8.6 Similar Specifications: AMS QQ-A-200/3, Temper T3510, is listed for information only and shall not be construed as an acceptable alternate unless all requirements of this AMS are met. 8.7 Key Words: Bars, rods, wire, profiles, tubing PREPARED UNDER THE JURISDICTION OF AMS COMMITTEE “D”
