TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:3.1 Composition:The composition
6、of the conditioner shall be optional with the manufacturerexcept that, when prepared for use, the solution shall form a stronglyalkaline liquid product. When prepared in accordance with manufacturersinstructions, the solution shall contain no solid sediment at roomtemperature and shall meet the requ
7、irements of 3.2. The solution make up andcontrol shall be in accordance with manufacturers instructions andpurchasers requirements.-2-AMS 1380A SAE AMS 1380A3.2 Properties:The scale conditioner shall meet the following requirements; tests shall beperformed in accordance with specified test methods o
8、n the product suppliedat the maximum concentration and temperature recommended by the manufacturer.3.2.1 Stock Loss: Test panels of alloys or electrodeposits shall not incur stockloss exceeding 0.000025 inch (0.635 m) per surface and plasma depositedcoatings shall not incur stock loss exceeding 0.00
9、01 inch (2.5 m), whentested in accordance with ARP1755, Category 3. Stock loss figures shall bereported for all materials specified in ARP1755, Category 3. Vendor shallindicate where compound is not recommended for particular alloys orcoatings.3.2.2Surface Attack: Test panels and bars used for the s
10、tock loss test of 3.2.1shall neither exhibit pitting corrosion nor show visual evidence ofdegradation, when examined at 50X magnification under good oblique surfacelighting conditions.3.2.3 Biodegradability: Vendor shall supply evidence that surfactants used inthe scale conditioner are at least 90%
11、biodegradable, determined either inaccordance with ASTM D 2667 where relevant to surfactant type or byalternative methods appropriate to surfactant type acceptable to purchaser.3.2.3.1 Evidence of surfactant biodegradability does not guarantee that theconditioner or solution may be discharged in eit
12、her concentrated ordiluted form into public waterways or sewerage systems; manufacturersshall give advice on the means for disposal.3.2.4 Storage Stability: Conditioner stored at 25 C 5 (77 F 9) for oneyear from date of receipt by purchaser shall show no visual evidence ofdeterioration and shall mee
13、t all other technical requirements of thisspecification.3.2.5 Performance: Conditioner, prepared and used in accordance with(R)manufacturers instructions, shall condition heat scale on parts to makethe scale readily removable. Conditioner, which meets all other technicalrequirements of this specific
14、ation shall be service tested in an approvedengine overhaul facility for not less than six months, during which time atleast ten turbofan or turbojet engines,or equivalent, shall be processedwith satisfactory results before approval for service use is granted by theapplicable engine manufacturer.3.3
15、 Quality:The conditioner, as received by purchaser,shall be homogeneous and free fromsolid particles, separation,and any foreign material detrimental to usage ofthe conditioner. If conditioner is supplied in powder form, it shall be freeflowing, free from lumping caused by moisture absorption, and f

QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS:4.1 Responsibility for Inspection:(R)The vendor of conditioner shall supply all samples for vendors tests andshall be responsible for performing all required tests. Purchaser reservesthe righ
17、t to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessaryto ensure that the conditioner conforms to the requirements of thisspecification.4.2 Classification of Tests:(R)Tests for all technical requirements are preproduction tests and shall beperformed prior to or on the initial shipment o
18、f conditioner to a purchaser,when a change in ingredients and/or processing requires reapproval as in4.4.2, and when purchaser deems confirmatory testing to be required.4.2.1 For direct U.S. Military procurement, substantiating test data and, whenrequested, preproduction test material shall be submi
19、tted to the cognizantagency as directed by the procuring activity, contracting officer, orrequest for procurement.4.3 Sampling and Testing:(R)Sufficient conditioner shall be selected in accordance with ASTM D 1568 orother procedure specified by purchaser. A lot shall be all compound producedin a sin
20、gle production run from the same batches of raw materials under thesame fixed conditions and presented for vendors inspection at one time. Aninspection lot shall not exceed 6,000 gallons (22,712 L) if a liquid or10,000 pounds (4536 kg) if a powder.4.4 Approval:4.4.1 Sample conditioner shall be appro
21、ved by purchaser before conditioner forproduction use is supplied, unless such approval be waived by purchaser.Results of tests on production conditioner shall be essentially equivalentto those on the approved sample.4.4.1.1 A new or revised conditioner may be conditionally approved pendingcompletio
22、n of the storage stability test of 3.2.4. Full approval will begranted following testing for the other technical requirements aftercompletion of storage stability testing.4.4.2 Vendor shall use ingredients, manufacturing procedures and processes, andmethods of inspection on production conditioner wh
23、ich are essentially thesame as those used on the approved sample conditioner. If necessary tomake any change in ingredients or in manufacturing procedures, vendor shallsubmit for reapproval a statement of the proposed changes in ingredientsand/or processing and, when requested, sample conditioner. P
24、roductionconditioner made by the revised procedure shall not be shipped prior toreceipt of reapproval.-4-IAMS 1380A AHS 1380AI4.5 Reports:The vendor of the conditioner shall furnish with the initial shipment areport showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the technicalrequirements e
25、xcept that, for a new or revised conditioner, the results ofthe storage stability test may be omitted. This report shall include thepurchase order number, lot number, AMS 1380A, manufacturers identification,and quantity.4.5.1 A material safety data sheet conforming to AMS 2825, or equivalent, shallb
26、e supplied to each purchaser prior to, or concurrent with, the report ofpreproduction test results or, if preproduction testing be waived bypurchaser, concurrent with the first shipment of conditioner for productionuse. Each request for modification of conditioner formulation shall beaccompanied by
27、a revised data sheet for the proposed formulation.4.5.2 A bulletin describing the conditioner and method of use shall be providedby the manufacturer. The bulletin shall provide purchaser with detailedinstructions for use of the conditioner, including mixing instructions,material compatibility, contr
28、ol analysis procedures, necessary safetypractices, and precautions pertaining to hazardous ingredients.4.5.3 The vendor of the conditioner shall furnish with each subsequent shipment areport stating that the conditioner is of the same basic composition andhas essentially the same properties as the a
29、pproved conditioner. Ifresults of the storage stability test were submitted previously, theseresults may be used again and the test may be omitted. This report shallinclude the purchase order number, lot number, AMS 1380A, manufacturersidentification, and quantity. If conditioner from more than one
30、lot issupplied in one shipment, a report shall be supplied for each lot ofconditioner in the shipment.4.6 Resampling and Retesting:(R)If any sample used in the above tests fails to meet the specifiedrequirements, disposition of the conditioner may be based on the results oftesting three additional s
31、amples for each original nonconforming sample,Failure of any retest sample to meet the specified requirements shall because for rejection of the conditioner represented. Results of all testsshall be reported.5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY:5.1 Identification:Each container shall be legibly marked with n
32、ot less than AMS 1380A, purchaseorder number, lot number, manufacturers identification, and quantity.5.2 Packaging:Conditioner shall be packaged in containers of a type and size agreed upon bypurchaser and vendor.-5-AMS SAE 1380A E AMS 1380A5.2.1 The conditioner may be packaged in small quantities a
33、nd delivered under thebasic lot approval provided lot identification is maintained.5.2.2 Containers of conditioner shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with(R) commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulationspertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation
34、 of theconditioner to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.5.2.3 For direct U.S. Military procurement, packaging shall be in accordance with(R) MIL-STD-2073-1, Commercial Level, unless Level A is specified in therequest for procurement.6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT:A vendor shall mention this specificati
35、on number and its revision letter inall quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders.7. REJECTIONS:Conditioner not conforming to this specification, or to modificationsauthorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection.8.
