SCOPE:1.1 Form:This specification covers an alkaline rust remover compound in the form of aliquid concentrate or a water-soluble powder for dilution with water.1.2 Applicat
2、ion:This product has been used typically for removing rust, soils, or otheroxidation products from aircraft turbine engine parts by immersion in asolution of the compound at elevated temperature, but usage is not limited tosuch applications. These compounds are unsuitable for cleaning aluminumparts.
3、 Restrictions for cleaning titanium parts may be imposed by the enginemanufacturer.1.3 Classification:Compounds conforming to this specification are classified as follows:Type 1 - Liquid concentrateWater-soluble powder1.3.1 Type 1 shall be supplied unless Type 2 is ordered.1.4 Precautions:Remover co
4、mpound may contain chemicals which, if improperly used, could behazardous to the health and safety of operators. Protective clothingincluding eye shields, suitable gloves, and apron should be worn whenpreparing and using compound. Tanks shall be prepared and operated underconditions of adequate fume

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:3.1 Composition:The composition of the compound shall be optional with the manufacturerexcept that, when prepared for use, the solution shall be alkaline. Whenprepared in acco
15、rdance with manufacturers instructions, the compound shallform a liquid product, with no solid sediment at room temperature and shallmeet the requirements of 3.2.- 2 -AMS 1379A SAE AMS 1379A3.2 Properties:The compound shall conform to the following requirements; tests shall beperformed in accordance
16、 with specified test methods on the product suppliedat the maximum concentration and temperature recommended by the manufacturer.3.2.1 Stock Loss: Test panels of alloys or electrodeposits shall not incur stockloss exceeding 0.000025 inch (0.635 m) per surface and plasma depositedcoatings shall not i
17、ncur stock loss exceeding 0.0001 inch (2.5 m), whentested in accordance with ARP1755, Category 2. Stock loss figures shall bereported for all materials specified in ARP1755, Category 2. Vendor shallindicate where compound is not recommended for particular alloys orcoatings.3.2.2 Surface Attack: Test
18、 panels and bars used for the stock loss test of 3.2.1shall neither exhibit pitting corrosion nor show visual evidence ofdegradation, when examined at 50X magnification under good oblique surfacelighting conditions.3.2.3 Biodegradability: Vendor shall supply evidence that surfactants used inthe comp
19、ound are at least 90% biodegradable, determined either inaccordance with ASTM D 2667 where relevant to surfactant type or byalternative methods appropriate to surfactant type acceptable to purchaser.3.2.3.1 Evidence of surfactant biodegradability does not guarantee that thecompound may be discharged
20、 in either concentrated or diluted form intopublic waterways or sewerage systems; manufacturers shall give advice onthe means for disposal.3.2.4 Storage Stability: Compound, stored at 25 C 5 (77 F 9) for one year from date of receipt by purchaser, shall show no visual evidence ofdeterioration and sh
21、all meet all other technical requirements of thisspecification.3.2.5 Stress-Corrosion of Titanium Alloys: The compound, when used at therequired concentrations, shall not cause stress-corrosion cracking oftitanium alloys, determined in accordance with ASTM F 945, Method A orMethod B.3.2.6 Performanc
22、e: The compound, prepared and used in accordance withmanufacturers instructions, shall be capable of removing soils, rust, andother oxidation products from all required parts. Compounds which meet allother technical requirements of this specification shall be service testedin an approved engine over
23、haul facility for not less than six months,during which time at least ten turbofan or turbojet engines, or equivalent,shall be processed with satisfactory results before approval for serviceuse is granted by the applicable engine manufacturer.- 3 -(R)(R)AMS 1379A SAE AMS 1379A3.3 Quality:The liquid
24、compound, as received by purchaser, shall be homogeneous, and freefrom solid particles, separation, and any foreign material detrimental tousage of the compound. If compound is supplied in powder form, it shall befree flowing, free from lumping caused by moisture absorption, and free fromforeign mat
25、erials detrimental to its usage.4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS:4.1 Responsibility for Inspection:The vendor of the compound shall supply all samples for vendors tests andshall be responsible for performing all required tests. Purchaser reservesthe right to sample and to perform any confirmatory tes
26、ting deemed necessaryto ensure that the compound conforms to the requirements of thisspecification.4.2 Classification of Tests:Tests for all technical requirements are preproduction tests and shall beperformed prior to or on the initial shipment of compound to a purchaser,when a change in ingredient
27、s and/or processing requires reapproval as in4.4.2, and when purchaser deems confirmatory testing to be required.4.2.1 For direct U.S. Military procurement, substantiating test data and, whenrequested, preproduction test material shall be submitted to the cognizantagency as directed by the procuring
28、 activity, contracting officer, orrequest for procurement.4.3 Sampling and Testing:Sufficient compound shall be selected in accordance with ASTM D 1568, orother procedure specified by purchaser. A lot shall be all compound producedin a single production run from the same batches of raw materials und
29、er thesame fixed conditions and presented for vendors inspection at one time. Aninspection lot shall not exceed 6000 gallons (22,712 L) if a liquid or10,000 pounds (4536 kg) if a powder.4.4 Approval:4.4.1 Sample compound shall be approved by purchaser before compound forproduction use is supplied, u
30、nless such approval be waived by purchaser.Results of tests on production compound shall be essentially equivalent tothose on the approved sample.4.4.1.1 A new or revised compound may be conditionally approved pendingcompletion of the storage stability test of 3.2.4. Full approval will begranted fol
31、lowing testing for the other technical requirements aftercompletion of storage stability testing.(R)(R)(R)- 4 - AMS 1379A SAE AMS 1379A4.4.2 Vendor shall use ingredients, manufacturing procedures and processes, andmethods of inspection on production compound which are essentially the sameas those us
32、ed on the approved sample compound. If necessary to make anychange in ingredients or in manufacturing procedures, vendor shall submitfor reapproval a statement of the proposed changes in ingredients and/orprocessing and, when requested, sample compound. Production compound madeby the revised procedu
33、re shall not be shipped prior to receipt ofreapproval.4.5 Reports:The vendor of the compound shall furnish with the initial shipment ofcompound a report showing the results of tests to determine conformance tothe technical requirements except that for a new or revised compound, theresults of the sto
34、rage stability test may be omitted. This report shallinclude the purchase order number, lot number, AMS 1379A, manufacturers identification, and quantity.4.5.1 A material safety data sheet conforming to AMS 2825, or equivalent, shallbe supplied to each purchaser prior to, or concurrent with, the rep
35、ort ofpreproduction test results or, if preproduction testing be waived bypurchaser, concurrent with the first shipment of compound for productionuse. Each request for modification of compound formulation shall beaccompanied by a revised data sheet for the proposed formulation.4.5.2 A bulletin descr
36、ibing the compound and method of use shall be provided bythe compound manufacturer. This bulletin shall provide purchaser withdetailed instructions for use of the compound, including mixinginstructions, material compatibility, control analysis procedures,necessary safety practices, and precautions p
37、ertaining to hazardousingredients.4.5.3 The vendor of the compound shall furnish with each subsequent shipment areport stating that the compound is of the same basic composition and hasessentially the same properties as the approved sample compound. Ifinclude the purchase order number, lot number, A
38、MS 1379A, manufacturers identification, and quantity. If compound from more than one lot issupplied in one shipment, a report shall be supplied for each lot ofcompound in the shipment.4.6 Resampling and Retesting:If any sample used in the above tests fails to meet the specifiedrequirements, disposit
39、ion of the compound may be based on the results oftesting three additional samples for each original nonconforming sample.Failure of any retest sample to meet the specified requirements shall because for rejection of the compound represented. Results of all tests shallbe reported.results of the stor

PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY:5.1 Identification:Each container of compound shall be legibly marked with not less thanAMS 1379A, purchase order numb
41、er, lot number, manufacturers identification,and quantity.5.2 Packaging:Compound shall be packaged in containers of a type and size agreed upon bypurchaser and vendor.5.2.1 The compound may be packaged in small quantities and delivered under thebasic lot approval provided lot identification is maint
42、ained.5.2.2 Containers of compound shall be prepared for shipment in accordance withcommercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulationspertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of the compoundto ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.5.2.3 For direct U.S.
43、 Military procurement, packaging shall be in accordance withMIL-STD-2073-1, Commercial Level, unless Level A is specified in therequest for procurement.6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT:A vendor shall mention this specification number and its revision letter inall quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders.7
44、. REJECTIONS:Compound not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorizedby purchaser, will be subject to rejection.8.
