SCOPE:1.1 Form: This specification covers a solvent-type remover in the form of a liquid.1.2 Application: Primarily for removing decal adhesive residue from painted surfaces, metal, plastics, and interior decor of aircraft.1.3 Safety - Hazardous Ma

    5、terials: While the materials, methods, applications, and processes described or referenced in this specification may involve the use of hazardous materials, this specification does not address the hazards which may be involved in such use. It is the sole responsibility of the user to ensure familiar

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS: 3.1 Material: Shall consist of a liquid solvent or remover meeting the requirements of 3.2.3.1.1 The product shall not be hazardous as defined by OSHA regulation 29CFR1910.1200.3.1.2 The concentrated pr

    14、oduct, diluted in accordance with manufacturers recommendations, shall produce a homogeneous solution, determined by inverting a 100-mL graduated cylinder containing 100 mL of the diluted product three times and visually examining for homogenity.AMS 1320A SAE AMS 1320A- 3 -3.2 Properties: The remove

    15、r shall conform to the following requirements; tests shall be performed in accordance with specified test methods on the product in concentrated form and at use dilution recommended by the manufacturer:3.2.1 Flash Point: Shall be not lower than 60C (140F), determined in accordance with ASTMD56.3.2.2

    16、 Sandwich Corrosion of Metallic Surfaces: Specimens of AMS 4045 and AMS4049 aluminum alloy, after test, shall show a rating not worse than 1, determined in accordance with ASTMF1110.3.2.3 Low Embrittling Cadmium Plate: Panels coated with low-embrittling cadmium plate shall not show a weight-change g

    17、reater than 0.3 mg/cm2/per 24hours, determined in accordance with ASTM F 1111. The coating shall not be allowed to dry on the panels prior to rinsing.3.2.4 Effect on Plastics: The product shall not craze, stain, or discolor MIL-P-25690, Type C, acrylic plastic, determined in accordance with ASTMF484

The product, likewise, shall not craze, stain, or discolor MIL-P-83310 polycarbonate plastic or polysulfone plastics, determined in accordance with test procedures specified in ASTM F 484 on specimens stressed for 30minutes 2 to an outer fiber stress of 3.0 ksi (21 MPa).3.2.5 Effect on Painted Int

    19、erior Surfaces: The product shall neither decrease the hardness of films of polyurethane paint or other paint specified by purchaser nor shall it produce any streaking, discoloration, or blistering of the paint film, determined in accordance with ASTM F 502.3.2.6 Effect on Unpainted Interior Surface

    20、s: The product, tested in accordance with ASTM F 485, shall neither produce streaking nor leave any stains which require polishing to remove from AMS 4045 and AMS 4049 aluminum alloys.3.2.7 Storage Stability: The product, tested in accordance with ASTM F 1105, shall show no evidence of precipitation

    21、, stratification, layering, or separation, shall be restorable to its original appearance by moderate agitation, and shall conform to all other technical requirements after the storage stability period specified in ASTM F 1105.3.2.8 Performance: The product, when used in accordance with manufacturer

    22、s recommendations, shall remove decal adhesives from the interior surfaces of aircraft without leaving any visible residue. Acceptance criteria shall be as agreed upon by purchaser and vendor.3.3 Quality: The product, as received by purchaser, shall be homogeneous, uniform in color, and free from sk

    23、ins and lumps and from foreign materials detrimental to usage of the product.AMS 1320A SAE AMS 1320A- 4 -4. QUALITY ASSURANCE PROVISIONS: 4.1 Responsibility for Inspection: The vendor of the product shall supply all samples for vendors tests and shall be responsible for performing all required tests

Purchaser reserves the right to sample and to perform any confirmatory testing deemed necessary to ensure that the product conforms to the requirements of this specification.4.2 Classification of Tests: Tests for all technical requirements are acceptance tests and preproduction tests and shall be

    25、performed prior to or on the initial shipment of the product to a purchaser, on each lot, when a change in ingredients and/or processing requires reapproval as in 4.4.2, and when purchaser deems confirmatory testing to be required.4.2.1 For direct U.S. Military procurement, substantiating test data

    26、and, when requested, preproduction test material shall be submitted to the cognizant agency as directed by the procuring activity, contracting officer, or request for procurement.4.3 Sampling and Testing: Sufficient remover shall be taken at random from each lot to perform all required tests. The nu

    27、mber of determinations for each requirement shall be as specified in the applicable test procedure or, if not specified therein, not less than two. A lot shall be all remover produced in a single production run from the same batches of raw materials under the same fixed conditions and presented for

    28、vendors inspection at one time.4.3.1 When a statistical sampling plan has been agreed upon by purchaser and vendor, sampling shall be in accordance with such plan in lieu of sampling as in 4.3 and the report of 4.5 shall state that such plan was used.4.4 Approval: 4.4.1 Sample remover shall be appro

    29、ved by purchaser before remover for production use is supplied, unless such approval be waived by purchaser. Results of tests on production remover shall be essentially equivalent to those on the approved sample.4.4.2 Vendor shall use ingredients, manufacturing procedures, and methods of inspection

    30、on production remover which are essentially the same as those used on the approved sample remover. If necessary to make any change in ingredients or in manufacturing procedures, vendor shall submit for reapproval a statement of the proposed changes in ingredients and/or processing and, when requeste

    31、d, sample remover. Production remover made by the revised procedure shall not be shipped prior to receipt of reapproval.AMS 1320A SAE AMS 1320A- 5 -4.5 Reports: The vendor of remover shall furnish with each shipment a report showing the results of tests to determine conformance to the technical requ

    32、irements. This report shall include the purchase order number, lot number, AMS 1320A, manufacturers identification, and quantity.4.5.1 A material safety data sheet conforming to AMS 2825, or equivalent, shall be supplied to each purchaser prior to, or concurrent with, the report of preproduction tes

    33、t results or, if preproduction testing be waived by purchaser, concurrent with the first shipment of remover for production use. Each request for modification of remover formulation shall be accompanied by a revised data sheet for the proposed formulation.4.6 Resampling and Retesting: If any sample

    34、used in the above tests fails to meet the specified requirements, disposition of the remover may be based on the results of testing three additional samples for each original nonconforming sample. Failure of any retest sample to meet the specified requirements shall be cause for rejection of the rem

    35、over represented. Results of all tests shall be reported.5. PREPARATION FOR DELIVERY: 5.1 Packaging and Identification: 5.1.1 Remover shall be packaged in containers of a type and size agreed upon by purchaser and vendor.5.1.2 Each container of remover shall be legibly marked with not less than AMS1

    36、320A, purchase order number, manufacturers identification, lot number, and quantity.5.1.3 Containers of remover shall be prepared for shipment in accordance with commercial practice and in compliance with applicable rules and regulations pertaining to the handling, packaging, and transportation of t

    37、he remover to ensure carrier acceptance and safe delivery.5.1.4 For direct U.S. Military procurement, packaging shall be in accordance with MIL-STD-2073-1, Commercial Level, unless Level A is specified in the request for procurement.6. ACKNOWLEDGMENT: A vendor shall mention this specification number

    38、 and its revision letter in all quotations and when acknowledging purchase orders.7. REJECTIONS: Remover not conforming to this specification, or to modifications authorized by purchaser, will be subject to rejection.AMS 1320A SAE AMS 1320A- 6 -8.
