WEBBING, TEXTILE, POLYESTER TUBE EDGE The Parachute Industry Association makes this document available for use by Industry and Government organizations that wish to apply this specification to their

    2、products. 1. SCOPE 1.1 Scope. This specification covers one type of untreated tubular edge polyester webbing used in the manufacture of load bearing systems. 1.2 Classification. The polyester tube edge webbing shall be the following type and shall conform to the requirements of TABLES I and II (see

    15、ersedes applicable laws and regulations unless a specific exemption has been obtained. 3. REQUIREMENTS 3.1 First Article. When specified (see 6.2), a sample representative of the production quality shall be submitted for first article inspection in accordance with 4.2. 3.2 Standard. The dyed webbing

    16、 shall match the standard for shade and appearance, unless otherwise indicated, shall be equal to or better than the standard with respect to all characteristics for which the standard is referenced (see 6.1). 3.3 Recycled, Recovered, or Environmentally Preferable Materials. Recycled, recovered, or

    17、environmentally preferable materials should be used to the maximum extent possible, provided that the material meets or exceeds operational and maintenance requirements, and promotes economically advantageous life cycle costs. 3.4 Materials. 3.4.1 Polyester Yarns. The polyester yarn used in the manu

    18、facture of the webbing shall be bright, high tenacity, multifilament polyester yarn and shall comply with the denier, ply, and twist requirements specified in TABLES I and II when tested as specified in 4.4. 3.5 Weave. The weave of Type I shall be plain weave and as specified in FIGURE 2. There shal

    19、l be a 1/2 inch tubular edge on edge side of the webbing, measured from the black polyester warp surface marker yarns (pattern identification yarns) located a 1/2 inch from each edge of webbing. The filling yarn shall traverse the full width of the webbing and shall be held at the edge by an extra c

    20、atch- cord end interlaced with the filling yarn in accordance with the method shown in FIGURE 1. 3.6 Color. The color of the webbing and its referenced standard shall be charcoal gray and shall match the approved shade standard (see 3.2 and 6.1). 3.6.1 Dyeing. The webbing shall be pigment or piece d

    21、yed. 3.6.2 Visual Shade Matching. When evaluated in accordance with 4.5.4, the color of the dyed webbing shall match the standard with sources simulating artificial daylight and shall be a good match to the standard under incandescent lamplight. 3.7 Identification Yarns. Colored warp ends shall be w

    22、oven into the webbing to permanently identify the webbing by type (see 6.2 and TABLE I). 3.7.1 Type Identification. Type I - Eight minimum ends of orange identification yarns shall be woven in the center of the warp. Sixteen ends of black identification yarns, eight each edge, shall be woven on both

    23、 ends, 1/2 inch from edge. The size of the marker yarns shall be similar to the natural warp yarn and shall be woven as detailed in 3.8.     24、h-cord yarn as shown in FIGURE 1. 3.8 Physical Requirements. The construction and physical requirements of the finished webbing shall be specified in TABLE I when tested as specified in TABLE II and 4.4.     28、Put-up. The webbing shall be put-up in rolls. Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the length of the rolls shall be as follows: Type I - Each roll shall contain not less than 100 yards nor more than 110 yards. A roll shall contain no more than 2 pieces and each piece shall be no less than 10 yards

    29、in length. 3.11 Identification Tickets. Each roll shall have a ticket attached with not finer than 5- ply cotton string doubled to not less than 6 inches long. The tickets shall be made of paperboard not less than 0.015 inch in thickness and the color shall be manila or light in intensity to permit

    30、easy reading of printed, stamped or typed markings. The use of handwritten entries is prohibited. The ticket shall have clipped corners at the end where a reinforcing patch (with or without a metal eyelet) is firmly affixed for attaching the tying string. The ticket shall be legibly printed with wat

    31、er insoluble ink with the following information: Stock number Nomenclature Specification number Yardage Contract number and date of manufacture (month and year) Contractors name Name of contracting agency. When webbing is not procured directly by the Government, the above information shall appear on

    32、 the container, in which case roll tickets are not required. 3.12 Fiber Identification. When directed in the procurement document or purchase order each roll of webbing shall be labeled or ticketed for fiber content in accordance with the Textile Fibers Product Identification Act. 3.13 Workmanship.

    33、The webbing shall conform to the quality of product established by this specification. The occurrence of defects shall not exceed the applicable acceptable quality limits. 3.14 Figures. The FIGURES are furnished for information purposes only. When inconsistencies exist between the written specificat

    34、ion and the FIGURES, the written specification shall govern. 3.15 Date of Manufacture (see 6.2). When required by the procurement document, the textile manufacturer shall properly identify the age of the textile materials by placing a tag on the finished goods or label on the containers identifying

    35、the specification to which the material is manufactured, the lot number and the date of manufacture. The date of manufacture is defined as the date (month and year) of the last manufacturing process that affects the physical characteristics of the material. 4.     36、tected: Do Not Copy!PIA-W-1101 4.1 Classification of Inspection. The inspection requirements specified herein are as follows: 1. First article inspection (see 4.2) 2. Conformance inspection (see 4.3). 4.2 First Article Inspection. When specified, the first article submitted in accordance with 3.1 sh

    37、all be inspected as specified in 4.3 through 4.3.1 for compliance with design, construction, workmanship and dimensional requirements. 4.3 Conformance Inspection. Sampling for inspection shall be performed as specified in this document unless otherwise specified in the contract or order (see 6.2). 4

    38、.3.1 Inspection Conditions. In accordance with 4.1 above, components and materials shall be inspected in accordance with all the requirements of referenced documents unless otherwise excluded, amended, modified or qualified in this specification or applicable procurement documents. 4.3.1.1 Component

    39、 Testing. In addition to the quality assurance provisions of the subsidiary specifications, component materials listed in TABLE II shall be tested for the specified characteristics in accordance with the referenced test methods. The lot size shall be expressed in pounds, and the sample unit shall be

    40、 500 yards of the polyester yarn. The lot shall be unacceptable if one or more units fail to meet any requirement specified. All test reports shall contain the individual values utilized in expressing the final result. The sample size shall be as follows: Lot size (pounds) Sample size 800 or less 2

The webbing shall be examined on both sides for the defects listed in

    44、TABLE IV. All defects found shall be counted regardless of their proximity to each other, except where two or more defects represent a single local condition, in which case only the more serious defect shall be counted. A continuous defect shall be counted as one defect for each warp-wise yard, or f

    45、raction thereof, in which it occurs. The sample unit shall be one (1) yard of webbing. Acceptance sampling shall be determined using ANSI/ASQ Z1.4, Inspection Level III with an Acceptance Quality Limit (AQL) of 0.25 major defects and 1.0 for total defects (major and minor combined). The number of ro

    46、lls from which the sample is to be selected shall be in accordance with TABLE III. The sample yardage shall be apportioned equally among the selected rolls. TABLE III Sampling plan.
