2、al Fire Protection Association has issued the following Tentative Interim Amendment to NFPA 96, Standard for Ventilation Control and Fire Protection of Commercial Cooking Operations, 2017 edition. The TIA was processed by the Technical Committee on Venting Systems for Cooking Appliances, and was iss
3、ued by the Standards Council on August 15, 2017, with an effective date of September 4, 2017. A Tentative Interim Amendment is tentative because it has not been processed through the entire standards-making procedures. It is interim because it is effective only between editions of the standard. A TI
4、A automatically becomes a public input of the proponent for the next edition of the standard; as such, it then is subject to all of the procedures of the standards-making process. 1. Delete 10.5.3 in its entirety. 10.5.3 Instruction regarding the proper use of portable fire extinguishers and the man
5、ual activation of fire-extinguishing equipment shall be documented and shall be provided by the management to new employees on hiring and to all employees annually. 2. Revise 11.1.4 to read as follows: 11.1.4* Instructions shall be provided to new employees on hiring and to all employees semiannuall
6、y annually on the use of portable fire extinguishers and the manual actuation of the fire-extinguishing system. 11.1.4.1 Responsibility for compliance with 11.1.4 shall be that of management of the commercial cooking operation. 11.1.4.2 Records of compliance with 11.1.4 shall be maintained and shall
7、 be available to the authority having jurisdiction. 11.1.4.3 Instructions for manually operating the fire-extinguishing system shall be posted conspicuously in the kitchen and shall be reviewed with employees by the management.
