、Brigade Member Professional Qualications 2018 Edition This edition of NFPA 1081, Standard for Facility Fire Brigade Member Professional Qualications , was prepared by the Technical Committee on Industrial Fire Brigades Professional Qualications and released by the Correlating Committee on Profession

、al Qualications. It was issued by the Standards Council on November 10, 2017, with an effective date of November 30, 2017, and supersedes all previous editions. This edition of NFPA 1081 was approved as an American National Standard on November 30, 2017. Origin and Development of NFPA 1081 In 1996,

、the NFPA Standards Council, after receipt of a request for the development of a standard for the professional qualications of industrial re brigade members, approved the establishment of a Technical Committee on Industrial Fire Brigades Member Professional Qualications under the Professional Qualica

、tions project. The purpose of the document was to identify requirements for personnel who perform as members of organized industrial re brigades at specic sites or facilities. An organizational meeting of the new committee was held in October 1997 in Tampa, FL. The technical committee met a total of

、 eight times during the development of this document. The development process was coordinated with other professional qualications documents and with the Technical Committee on Loss Prevention Procedures and Practices, the committee responsible for NFPA 600, Standard on Industrial Fire Brigades. To

、accommodate the site-specic needs of industrial re brigades at various locations, the committee developed a core set of job performance requirements, as well as site-specic requirements for each dened level in the document. The intent is that the management of a facility utilizing the requirements o

、f NFPA 1081 would identify those site-specic requirements applicable to the facility and incorporate them into the requirements for their industrial re brigade members. This departure from the traditional style of other professional qualications documents was necessary in order to track with the NFP

、A 600 and OSHA requirements in 29 CFR 1910.156 for re brigades. The rst edition of NFPA 1081, Standard for Industrial Fire Brigade Member Professional Qualications , adopted at the May 2001 meeting of the National Fire Protection Association, established job performance requirements for the levels o

、f industrial re brigade operations dened in NFPA 600: Incipient, Advanced Exterior, and Interior Structural. Requirements for the position of Fire Brigade Leader were also provided in the document. The 2007 edition of NFPA 1081 was a complete revision of the document and included editorial changes t

、o JPRs, Requisite Knowledge and Requisite Skills statements, and their associated Annex A statements. New material was also added for “site-specic requirements.” In the 2012 edition of NFPA 1081, the committee added time requirements of 2 minutes (120 seconds) to Chapters 6 and 7 that relate to the

、donning and dofng of thermal protective clothing and donning and activation of SCBA and PASS devices. In addition, a section was added that addressed the limits and responsibilities of industrial re brigade members in order to be consistent with NFPA 600, Standard on Industrial Fire Brigades. The co

、mmittee also added a chapter to address the qualications that support members would provide to the industrial re brigade.FACILITY FIRE BRIGADE MEMBER PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS 1081-2 2018 Edition For the 2018 edition, the committee has changed the title of NFPA 1081 from Standard for Industrial Fi

、re Brigade Member Professional Qualications to Standard for Facility Fire Brigade Member Professional Qualications to mirror a similar change to the title of NFPA 600, Standard on Facility Fire Brigades. The committee has reformatted the chapters of the document to align with the template as recomme

、nded by the Correlating Committee for Professional Qualications. The committee has updated extracts and denitions, and has evaluated and revised as necessary the JPRs for the positions identied in the document.COMMITTEE PERSONNEL 1081-3 2018 Edition Correlating Committee on Professional Qualications
